Phyletus Wright was born in the mountains of Hendersonville, North Carolina where she
began her love of painting at the age of 8 years old. Her talent was perfected at Florida
State University but quickly returned to her home in the mountains. She has always stayed
true to her subject matter, the people and places of Western North Carolina. Phyletus
Wright has been flattered with many awards that include "Hendersonville Art League's "Artist
of the Year", several 1st place Art League finishes and "Best in Show" in the Bradenton, Fl.
Art Festival. Countless originals have been shown from Orlando to England, including
original contracted paintings for restaurants, churches and individuals. She continues to find
the character, nuances, and basic, old world values that are deeply embedded in the fabric
of the Blue Ridge Mountains and its people. Scenes depicted in her work are the "Mountain
Songs" that keep millions of vacationers returning to downtown Hendersonville each year.
